Maison Klipfel was founded in 1824 by Martin Klipfel and today is a 40-hectare family business. Martin acquired the prestigious Clos Zisser in 1830.
His son and grandson, Eugene and Louis Klipfel, brought significant growth to the family business. They were among the first to produce Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles.
Created by André Lorenz (a former member of the French Academy of Wine), the house was run by Jean-Louis Lorentz-Klipfel until 2016, accompanied by his three daughters, Anne-Sophie, Marie, and Amélie. Now the house is managed by another family from the wine world – the Helfrich family.
In the Klipfel cellar, you can find wines from 1921, 1929, 1939, 1942, 1943, 1945, and 1959. In 1984, Klipfel Estate became one of the first to use French oak barrels from Burgundy, the famous Red barrels, to mature their Pinot Noir wine.
One million five hundred thousand bottles are sold every year. Export accounts for 20% of all sales in more than 25 countries, especially in Europe and the USA, China, Russia, and Australia.
