Espolon Tequila is a premium tequila with a soft, rich, silky taste and an intriguing aromatic bouquet, created from blue agave, harvested in the highlands of Los Altos in the state of Jalicico. The drink is born within the walls of the «Destiladora San Nicolas» plant, awarded the title of «Best plant in Mexico».
After harvesting, the agave is divided into several parts and sent to a heated stone oven to make it softer. For the production of Espolon tequila, this procedure takes about 20 hours. The juice is then squeezed out of the plant and mixed with pure water and special yeast. The resulting drink is poured into barrels for a week of fermentation. The mixture turns into a light liquor, after which it undergoes distillation, which for Espolon tequila lasts about 5.5 hours, unlike other drinks brands, where distillation takes no more than 3.5 hours. The result is a soft drink with a unique, multifaceted taste and bright aroma.
No less unique is the design of the Espolon Blanco bottle – the label is decorated with a skeleton riding a rooster. The author of the illustrations, artist Stephen Noyble, created a logo in the style of «Dia-de-Los-Muertos» (Day of the Dead). According to his idea, the label symbolizes the many years of struggle of the Mexican people for their freedom and the turning points in the history of Mexico. This move emphasizes that tequila has a unique, genuinely Mexican character.
Tequila «Espolon» has been awarded at many prestigious competitions.
