Boutinot is an independent British wine company founded in 1980 by Paul Boutinot, who began the business by importing wines directly from France for his parents’ restaurant in the United Kingdom.

In the mid-1990s, the company was joined by Denis Whiteley and Michael Moriarty, who remain key figures in its management today.

Boutinot is renowned for combining traditional winemaking techniques with modern innovation, creating wines that authentically express both their terroir and grape variety.

Today, Boutinot works with more than 200 wine producers, offering a portfolio of over 1,700 wines sold in more than 50 countries worldwide. The company distributes approximately 44 million bottles each year.

Owned Wineries

🇫🇷 France — Domaine Boutinot (Cairanne, Rhône): estate vineyards and winery established in 2010. Boutinot France (Mâcon, Burgundy).

🇿🇦 South Africa — Wildeberg (Franschhoek): since 2016, Boutinot has owned vineyards and a winery dedicated to producing both white and red wines with a strong focus on terroir.

🇳🇿 New Zealand — Heaphy Vineyard (Upper Moutere, Nelson): acquired in 2023, this is Boutinot’s first wholly owned New Zealand project, focusing on premium varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

🇬🇧 England — Henners Vineyard (East Sussex): acquired in 2017. The estate grows Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, producing premium English sparkling wines using the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle).
