OUZO 12 has been produced in Greece according to the original recipe since 1880. This is a traditional Greek drink.
OUZO 12 originated in Constantinople, now known as Istanbul, at the Kaloyannis Distillery and takes its name from «Cask № 12».
Ouzo – in translation means «anise», which is the main ingredient for creating a drink.
Ouzo 12 is made from water, high-quality alcohol from molasses (a product of beet sugar), aromatic spices of the highest quality (fennel, anise, star anise, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon), and sugar. The double distillation process uses two times more spices than cheaper single distillation products, which significantly enhances the taste and aroma of the drink. Ouzo 12 contains exclusively natural anethole, an aromatic substance from fennel, anise, and star anise, which gives the vodka a unique aroma and turns the drink white when mixed with water.
Ouzo 12 is currently the most popular anise vodka in the world.
Since 1999, the Ouzo 12 brand has been owned by Gruppo Campari, the world’s most famous producer of wines, spirits, and soft drinks. The company was founded in 1860 by Gaspard Campari, who invented the recipe for the legendary bitter named after him. After Gaspard’s death, the organization’s management passed to his son, David. The latter contributed considerably to the expansion of production and the development of the popularity of the company’s products.
