The origins of the creation of cognacs produced under the brand name “Tavria” are Swiss colonists, who in 1889 laid the foundation of the village of Osnova in the Kherson region. Today at this place Tavria Vintage Cognac House is located. Emperor Alexander I called to the Russian Empire the hereditary winemakers Louis Gehler, Julius Mayer and Jean Jatone to entrust them with the development of winemaking on the Nizhnedneprovsky Sands.
Today, the Tavria Vintage Cognac House is a successful enterprise, occupying one of the leading places in the ranking of brandy/ cognac and wine producers in Ukraine. The company’s products cover at least a third of the domestic market and are actively exported abroad. Tavria is a full-cycle producer. It means that each stage of cognac creation – from growing vines to aging – is carried out at one enterprise under the tireless control of highly qualified specialists.
Cognac “Borisfen” is the legendary classic from the House of Vintage Cognac “Tavria”.
The first bottle of Borisfen cognac appeared in Soviet stores in the 1970s. Together with this cognac/ brandy few generations of Ukrainians have grown. For many decades, Borisfen has been the symbol of time-tested Ukrainian cognacs, which was born in Tavrian steppes, a unique cognac terroir, which are located on the 46th geographical parallel, similar to the homeland of French cognacs – Charente.
