The history of the “Casa Vinicola Decordi” winery began in 1921, when Decordi family ran a small cafe serving home-made wines and traditional Italian dishes. At that time, red wines were produced in large volumes on the basis of Ancelotta, Fortana and Lambrusco grape varieties. The wines were so much in demand among visitors that the family had decided to take on winemaking seriously. Thus, in 1925 a future winery was established. At the moment it has existed for more than 90 years.
In the 1920s, the winery began the vineyards cultivation. In the same period, the first blends of wines were created and sold in bottles and on tap. Officially the winery “Casa Vinicola Decordi” was registered in 1937, and by the beginning of 1950 the construction of the manufacture was completed. Its wine production volume reaches 3 million liters per year! In the 1970s, the winery introduced a new line of wines and in the 1980s it began exporting wines to America and Europe and in the 1990s to Japan.
Decordi products are well known in the international market. For many years, the company has been providing high quality Italian wines worldwide, from Japan to South and North America and becoming the only representative of Italian wines for many importers from all over the world.
Today Vinicola Dekordi has a modern and prestigious location, but it is still connected with its historical places.
In 2007 in Motta Baluffy commune the grand opening of the manufacture took place. The plant includes buildings that are equipped with modern equipment, offices and a temperature-controlled warehouse. In the historical building of the plant, long-used wooden barrels are stored, and nowadays more than 200 steel tanks with electronic control of temperature, pressure and other parameters are used in production. All these innovations allow to control the process of winemaking: from harvesting to bottling. This fact was the reason for transfer of Lambrusco and other wines production from northern regions of the Po River to this commune.
As impressive the equipment in Motta Baluffy is, as productive, accurate and reliable it is. That fact can be confirmed by people who saw it live.
The production is automated from the bottle tray feed to the final packaged product, which is ready for storage or shipment. The whole process is double checked by machines and technicians, every moment of production is fully traceable and monitored in detail.
